Organic Free Range Norfolk Black Turkeys
Chapple Farm is on the River Torridge in North Devon, between Dartmoor and Exmoor. We grow mainly grass with a small amount of arable crops. We produce Aberdeen Angus Beef and free range Norfolk Black Turkeys. As Delia says, “...The Norfolk Black is the connoisseur's choice”, a slower growing traditional breed that has a wonderful flavour and a succulent texture.
Our turkeys are bred organically in Devon and live outside on grass, clover and in orchards, so get plenty of exercise and fresh air. At night they are moved into straw bedded barns for their own protection from foxes; turkeys don’t put themselves to bed. They are fed on organic feed as well as home grown wheat and peas.
In December we prepare the turkeys at home. They are sold oven ready, with or without giblets, so all you need to do is cook them. The normal weight range is between 4 and 10 kilos (approx 8 to 22 lbs – a 7 kg turkey will comfortably feed 10 with leftovers).
